Minerals are found in the composition of rocks of the earth's crust and have a specific chemical formula and atomic structure and almost constant chemical composition. The smallest part of a mineral is a mineral, and the atomic structure, the type of molecular or chemical composition, distinguishes a mineral from other substances. It is mineralized. Also, minerals have many roles in human life and industries. Minerals are formed from various bonds between atoms, and many of them are composed of two or more elements and some are composed of a single pure element.It should be mentioned that materials such as various man-made alloys, glass and mineral porcelain are the material. Also, shells, pearls, ivory, bones and other materials made by another soul are not included in this category. کانی از واژه فارسی کان به معنای سنگ معدن برگرفته شده و یک ماده طبیعی، غیر آلی و جامد است. کانی‌ها در ترکیب سنگ‌های پوسته زمین پیدا می‌شوند و دارای فرمول شیمیایی و ساختمان اتمی مشخص و ترکیب شیمیایی تقریبا ثابتی هستند.کوچک‌ترین جز یک ماده معدنی کانی است و ساختار اتمی، نوع ترکیب مولکولی یا شیمیایی خاص خود، باعث تفاوت یک ماده معدنی با دیگر مواد معدنی شده است. همچنین کانی‌ها در زندگی انسان و صنایع کاربرد زیادی دارند.کانی ماده‌ای است که به‌طور طبیعی از معادن به اندازه چشم‌گیری استخراج می‌شود. کانی‌ها از پیوندهای گوناگون بین اتم‌ها به وجود می‌آیند و بسیاری از آن‌ها از دو یا چند عنصر و برخی از یک عنصر خالص تشکیل شده‌اند. گفتنی است موادی مثل آلیاژهای گوناگون ساخت دست انسان، شیشه و چینی کانی نیستند. همچنین صدف، مروارید، عاج، استخوان و مواد دیگری که توسط جانداران دیگر ساخته می‌شود در این دسته قرار نمی‌گیرند. لازم به ذکر است گرافیت و زغال‌سنگ با اینکه منبعی آلی دارند چون در مسیر تکامل خود دچار تغییرات زیادی شده‌اند و به‌طور مستقیم ریشه‌ آلی ندارند، کانی محسوب می‌شوند. در این کتاب با بیانی ساده تلاش براین شده است که خواننده اطلاعاتی در مورد این مبحث داشته و در آینده ذهن پویای جوانان جویای علم دانش به سمت سوی درست قدم بردارد. فلذا این کتاب به همه ی مردمان جهان تقدیم میگردد.
